Susana Balbo's wines obtained great scores in the latest report from Descorchados

The winery of the first female winemaker of Argentina obtained more than 15 90+ points scores and 7 awards in the 2022 edition of Patricio Tapia's guide. The standouts were Susana Balbo Signature Rosé 2021, chosen as "best rosé", and BenMarco Sin Límites Malbec Orgánico 2020, selected as the "revelation" of the year.

The Chilean wine critic Patricio Tapia released the 2022 edition of his Descorchados guide on Friday, December 17, and the wines created by Susana Balbo and her team of enologists stood out with multiple 90+ points scores and several awards and recognitions.

Within Susana’s Signature wines, which embody all of her essence both as a woman and as a winemaker, Susana Balbo Signature Rosé 2021 stood out with 94 points, winning the award for "best rosé of the year" for the third time in a row. Susana Balbo Signature Limited Edition Torrontés de Raíz Naranjo 2020 (93 points) was ranked among the best orange wines of the year and, like Susana Balbo Signature Barrel Fermented Torrontés 2021 (93 points), was also among the best Torrontés of the year. Lastly, Susana Balbo Signature Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2021 and Susana Balbo Signature Malbec 2019 received 91 and 90 points, respectively.

The 2018 vintage of Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade, a roaming Malbec made out of grapes from a specific plot of the vineyard that performed the best during that specific year, scored 94 points, due to the outstanding quality of the grapes sourced from Gualtallary. Nosotros Corcel 2018 and Nosotros Sofita 2018 also received 94 points.

BenMarco, the viticulturist's wines produced under the watchful eye of Edgardo Del Pópolo, also obtained excellent scores. BenMarco Sin Límites Malbec Orgánico 2020 was highlighted as the "revelation" of the year and obtained 94 points, one point more than BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 (93 points), which was chosen among the best wines of Los Árboles, and BenMarco Expresivo 2019. BenMarco Malbec 2020 and BenMarco Sin Límites Malbec de Gualtallary 2020 had 92 points each, while BenMarco Cabernet Franc 2020 received 91.

Lastly, Crios Torrontés 2021 obtained 90 points and was distinguished as one of the best value wines of the year.
