The Council of the Americas (COA) presented the BRAVO Business Awards on October 25 at a special gala in Miami for the 25th edition of these awards. Among the winners was the Argentine winemaker Susana Balbo, founder of Susana Balbo Wines, who received the 2019 BRAVO Lifetime Achievement Award.
In 2019, the Council of the Americas Symposium and BRAVO Business Awards celebrated 25 years as the only regional platform to consistently highlight and honor the most inspiring visionaries driving positive change and propelling Latin America onto the global stage.
The BRAVO Lifetime Achievement Award is a recognition to Susana’s perseverance and groundbreaking achievements as a top award-winning winemaker who has contributed to the worldwide success of Argentinian wines, as well as her dedication to the economic empowerment of women and gender equality across the globe.
Susana’s visionary leadership and endless dedication have made her brand, Susana Balbo Wines, a globally-renowned company, not only for the quality of its wines, but also for its dedication to environmental and sustainability initiatives. Her multiple top scoring wines and creative approach to winemaking cement her position as one of the most influential women in the wine world.
She has also distinguished herself among industry peers by being elected three times as the president of Wines of Argentina, which promotes Argentinian wines world-wide, and has recently worked as the first Latin American woman to chair the prestigious W20 for Argentina in 2018, which speaks volumes of her strong commitment to develop policies that enable all women to reach their full potential.
“Our 2019 BRAVO Business Award honorees represent extraordinary purpose to drive economic and social development in Latin America, and we want to recognize them as exceptional role models in their fields,” said Americas Society/Council of the Americas President and CEO Susan Segal. “We are pleased to celebrate our twenty-fifth annual awards this year as we continue to highlight the most brilliant and diverse leaders in the hemisphere.”
Prior to the BRAVO Business Awards, the Council of the Americas Symposium brought together more than 400 business, political and social leaders for an event that discussed key issues for development in the region.
