In the British wine critic’s report preview, 15 wines from Susana Balbo’s winery were awarded more than 90 points. The full report will be published on May 17, disclosing Atkin’s comments and notes on each wine in particular and on the winery in general.
Tim Atkin tasted one of the Susana’s latest creations, which will be launched in 2021: Nosotros Corcel 2018. This new Malbec was awarded 96 points by the wine critic. In addition, the 2017 vintage of the now classic Nosotros Single Vineyard Nómade Malbec obtained 95 points.
Once again, the Susana Balbo Signature whites were highly praised by Tim Atkin. The Queen of Torrontés obtained 96 points for her Susana Balbo Signature White Blend 2020, 94 points for the elegant Susana Balbo Signature Barrel Fermented Torrontés 2020 and 93 points for the innovative Susana Balbo Signature Rosé 2020. Her red wines also shone with great scores: Susana Balbo Signature Brioso 2019 got 94 points, and Susana Balbo Signature Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 got 93 points each.
Crios, the wines that Susana dedicates to her children, also collected great scores. Repeatedly praised for their optimal price-quality ratio, both Crios Torrontés 2020 and Crios Malbec 2020 received 90 points.
BenMarco, the terroir-oriented range, led by the viticulturist Edgardo del Pópolo, was also very well appreciated by Tim Atkin. BenMarco Expresivo 2019 stood out with 94 points, BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 obtained 93 points, and both BenMarco Cabernet Franc 2019 and BenMarco Malbec 2019 were awarded 92 points.
